What we do

We offer free, confidential information and support to parents/carers of children who have, or may have, special educational needs. We help parents/carers take an active and informed part in their child’s education. Most of the help we provide is over the telephone.

We can also help you in the following ways:

  • We can give you leaflets on different aspects of special educational need
  • We can tell you about the other relevant groups, such as voluntary organisations or statutory services
  • We can help you with filling in education forms and writing letters
  • We can help you with reading through and understanding education reports, statements, individual education plans
  • We can help you prepare for meetings
  • We maybe able to provide a volunteer (Independent Parental Supporter) to come to a meeting with either the school or the local authority
  • If you or your school has asked for a statutory assessment – we will invite you to one of our information sessions for parents and carers. You will be able to chat with a Parent Partnership Officer and maybe someone from the Assessment & Monitoring team. These meetings are held in Bedford, Biggleswade & Dunstable.
