Impartiality policy

The Service operates at arm’s length from the Local Authority on independent premises.

The service offered to all service users is impartial, all parties involved in discussions will be treated equally and given access to factual information to inform the decision making process. Job descriptions for all Parent Partnership staff and volunteers state they must ensure advice, information and support provided to parents/carers is impartial.

The Service takes part in negotiations and discussions with schools and the LA on behalf of parents/carers and in doing so represent the perspectives and wishes of the parent/carer.

Parent Partnership Service staff do not participate in the decision making process of the SEN procedures and do not try to influence the outcome of any discussions.

The Service signposts parents/carers to other organisations as appropriate and also uses external providers for staff and volunteer training. Literature produced by others is regularly sent to parents/carers and is included in our Senco packs.

Our independent website publicises external events across the County.
